Despite a steady drizzle sweeping across Mid-Ulster, the historic Benburb Priory once again welcomed crowds of visitors on Sunday for Day Two of its much-loved Pumpkin Patch at the Priory event — and not even the rain could put a damper on the day’s festivities.

Families arrived armed with umbrellas, wellies, and plenty of enthusiasm, ready to embrace the autumnal magic that filled the Priory’s grounds. The pumpkin patch itself, dotted with bright orange pumpkins glistening under the soft rain, became a scene straight from a storybook — the perfect backdrop for photos, laughter, and a little mud-splashing fun.

One visitor summed up the mood perfectly: “It might be raining outside, but inside, it feels like pure autumn magic.”

A Place Where History Meets Halloween

The 19th-century Benburb Priory, standing proudly above the River Blackwater, once again proved that its charm shines through in any weather. Built by James Bruce, the estate’s original owner and philanthropist, the Priory’s history remains an integral part of the event’s storytelling. Many visitors said the rain only added to the mystery of the day, enhancing the sense of history that lingers in its stone corridors and misty grounds.

As the second day drew to a close, families departed with pumpkins in hand and smiles on their faces — ready to return for the weekends ahead when the Priory’s Halloween celebrations continue.
