Déaglán Ó Doibhlin: From the Fierce Peak to Dúiche Corráin – A Sideways Look at the Place Names of Benburb

Posted On: February 20, 2023

We at Benburb Priory, wish to offer our thanks to Déaglán Ó Doibhlin for his recent talk on the topic of Benburb’s local Gaelic place names, poems, and airs. This talk took place on Thursday 16th February and was well supported by the local community.

Déaglán is an Irish language officer with Mid-Ulster Council. We are most grateful to them for sharing the event and to Mrs Aoibheann Devlin, who performed several beloved airs associated with the local area, on the wire-strung harp.

This evening provided a welcome celebration of place. Thank you to those of you who joined us or supported in any form. Finally, thank you to the Stables Café at the Priory, who opened especially for attendees at this event.
